LRC APPOINTS NEW NATIONAL DIRECTOR

1 August 2018 – The LRC has announced the appointment of Nersan Govender as its new National Director. Mr. Govender will officially join the LRC on August 1, succeeding Janet Love, who has led the LRC for the past twelve years.

Mr. Govender comes to the LRC from South Africa’s Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), an independent dispute resolution body, established in terms of the Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995, serving as the CCMA’s General Manager of External Relations and Business Development since 2016.

Mr. Govender brings with him more than two decades of experience in the fields of labour law, dispute resolution, and policy development and implementation. He is a thoughtful and empathetic leader and embodies a commitment to the goals of public interest lawyering and strategic thinking.

It is with sadness that the LRC is saying farewell to Ms. Love, whose commitment and service to the LRC has been responsible for the growth and sustainability of the organisation. The LRC will miss her leadership and has thanked her for all that she has contributed.

Ms. Love said, “I am grateful for the time I have spent at the Legal Resources Centre which is an extraordinary organisation that involves creative and dedicated people who work tirelessly in support of courageous clients and which plays a central role in the social justice sector. I have been honoured to have been associated with the LRC and I wish Nersan all the best as he takes over as National Director.”
